March 20 – Update: Ames Fully in Stage 4 of NASA’s Response Framework

California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state-wide stay-at-home order until further notice to help curb the spread of COVID-19. This new order now elevates the remainder of the state to our local area’s shelter-in-place and does not alter the center’s status.

Ames Research Center is now at what’s called “Stage 4” in NASA’s Response Framework, in alignment with the Bay Area’s public health orders issued on Monday, March 16. To view NASA’s Response Framework, visit:

While most of the physical campus may be “closed,” that doesn’t mean that Ames is closed. “Ames” is our workforce, which continues to contribute to the nation’s aeronautics, science, exploration and space technology programs and missions. We’re seeing thousands of teleworking sessions each day, which means the workforce is connected to NASA’s programs and missions and contributing their talents even during these challenging times.

The wellbeing of the Ames family remains center leadership’s top priority. Please continue to follow the guidance provided by federal, state and local guidelines to stay healthy. Please also continue to check for further updates on the COVID-19 page on InsideAmes, if you can access internal systems and ARCSOS site on the public web. Agency updates, guidance and documents are posted on the NASA People website (https://nasapeople.nasa.gov/).
